EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An Eastlake High School teacher was surprised with a 2025 WhataTeacher grant from Whataburger on Friday, May 9, according to Socorro Independent School District.
Thomas Medina, a social studies teacher from Eastlake High School, was awarded a $1,000 WhataTeacher grant on May 9 at the high school’s theater, located at 13000 Emerald Pass Ave.
According to the news release by Socorro ISD, to celebrate Whataburger’s 75th anniversary, the fast food chain is awarding $1,000 classroom grants to 75 educators for a total of $75,000 in funding.
“The WhataTeacher grants highlights the outstanding teachers who go above and beyond to make a meaningful impact in their schools and communities,” according to Socorro ISD.
The educators are chosen across Whataburger’s 16-state area: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
