Posted on May 15, 2025

SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz launched a campaign to make the city “cleaner than ever.”

During a ceremony where he was surrounded by city officials and residents this week, the mayor announced the first phase of the program involving infrastructure, heavy equipment and service to the community.

He is calling the campaign “Tijuana, Clean City.”

“Today we are giving a historic example of teamwork,” Burgueño Ruiz said. “The priority is the wellbeing of every resident, but without our city council and council members this is not possible nor without the help of our state government and Gov. Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda.”

The mayor said heavy equipment such as skip loaders, trucks and bulldozers has been purchased to help clean streets, sidewalks and empty spaces.
