EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso, Las Cruces and the surrounding areas will see organizations and agencies that are closed or have different hours on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
Here’s a list of those closures and schedule changes:
City of Las Cruces
Most of the City of Las Cruces’ offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Here is the list of offices and facilities that will be closed on Memorial Day:
- A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven
- City Hall
- East Mesa Recreation Center
- Youth Development and Diversion
- Castaneda Parks and Recreation Administration Office
- Foothills Landfill
- Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center
- All Las Cruces Libraries and their branches
- Meerscheidt Recreation Center
- All museums
- Rio Grande Theatre
- All Roadrunner Transit operations and facilities
- All Senior Programs facilities and services
- South Central Solid Waste Authority Administrative offices
- Visit Las Cruces
However, all emergency services, including police and fire, will continue to operate.
Here’s a list of other services that will be open on Memorial Day:
- Solid Waste collections will occur as normal for residential and commercial customers who are scheduled for service on Monday, May 26.
- The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., Doña Ana County Collection Sites and Corralitos Landfill will be open with normal service hours.
- City swimming pools will be open on Memorial Day.
- Memorial Day is a free swim day at the outdoor Laabs Pool, 750 W. Picacho Ave. This pool will have two swimming sessions. Session I will be from noon to 3 p.m. and Session II will be from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- The Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave., will have an Aquatic Fitness Session from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m., with open swim session from noon to 3 p.m. and 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
- The upstairs Fitness and Weight Room at the Regional Aquatics Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- The Las Cruces Natatorium, 1405 E. Hadley Ave., will have normal hours of operation 6 – 11 a.m. and 4 – 8 p.m.
Doña Ana County
Doña Ana County’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
County emergency services and law enforcement will continue to operate, but their administrative offices will also be closed.
Regular operating hours for all offices will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27.
Las Cruces Public Schools
Las Cruces Public Schools administrative offices at Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administrative Complex, along with individual district campuses, will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Regular business and classes will resume regular hours on Tuesday, May 27.
El Paso Community College
El Paso Community College will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Student and business services will not be available.
Registration for the summer and fall semesters is available online through Self-Service Banner.
Offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 27, and EPCC’s summer semester will begin on Monday, June 9.
El Paso County
El Paso County administrative offices and the Enrique County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
U.S. Postal Service
U.S. Postal Service retail locations throughout El Paso will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
There will be no regular mail delivery except for holiday premium Priority Mail Express on May 26.
All retail locations and regular mail delivery will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 27.
Customers are still able to order stamps, shipping supplies, print shipping labels and request package pickups 24/7, including holidays, online.
Texas Tech Health El Paso
The Texas Tech Health El Paso campus, including libraries, Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics and the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic, will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, May 27.
Socorro Independent School District
Socorro Independent School District will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.
Classes will resume, schools and offices will re-open on Tuesday, May 27.
City of El Paso
All City of El Paso administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.

- Recreation/Community Centers, Senior Centers, and Aquatic Centers

The following services and offices will be open on Monday, May 26:
- El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Animal Services: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Westside Adoption Center, Mission Valley Adoption Center: Noon to 2 p.m.
- Sun Metro (All routes, BRIO, and LIFT): Sunday/Holiday schedule
- El Paso Streetcar: Operating on a Sunday Schedule, Noon to 6 p.m.
- El Paso Water Parks
- Community Spray Parks: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Chamizal Community Spray Park, 2119 Cypress Ave.
