EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Downtown Management District (DMD) is bringing bold flavors and music to the first-ever Selena and Salsa Market.
The market will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, in the Union Plaza, 117 Anthony St.
“We’re excited to invite everyone to the first-ever Selena and Salsa Market in Downtown El Paso,” said Joe Gudenrath, executive director of the El Paso Downtown Management District. “This event celebrates Selena’s legacy and our community’s rich culture, bringing people together to enjoy the flavors, music, and spirit of Downtown. We hope it becomes a new tradition for locals and visitors alike.”
According to El Paso DMD, admission is free and all ages are welcome.
The event will feature the following activities:
- Selena-inspired market with over 30 local vendors
- A variety of food trucks
- Selena tribute performance by Jezzika Sax starting at 1 p.m.
- Happy Hour Disco playing classic cumbia hits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Salsa Tasting Competition, where guests can sample and vote for the best salsa. Voting will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Selena Look-A-Like Contest for kids and adults will be held at 12:30 p.m. The audience will help in choosing the winners.
- A Kids Zone powered by La Nube, packed with activities like a Selena and Salsa-themed coloring station, marker and foil prints, and vibrant coffee filter flowers.
