EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – New Mexico State men’s basketball alum Pascal Siakam was named Eastern Conference MVP and Larry Bird Award recipient after helping the Indiana Pacers clinch their spot in the NBA Finals. Indiana defeated the New York Knicks 125-108 on Saturday, May 31.
Siakam had an unbelievable series against the Knicks, averaging 24.8 points per game against New York, dropping 31 points alone in game six.
This will be Siakam’s second NBA Finals appearance, after helping the Toronto Raptors win the title in 2019.
With this win, this sets the stage for an Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder showdown for the title. Game One of the best of seven series is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5.
