EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — White Sands National Park will kick off its First Full Moon Night event of the year with some help from Fort Bliss.
The 1st Armored Division Rock Band will be the performer at the event at 8:15 p.m. on June 11.
“The 1st AD Rock Band is stationed out of Fort Bliss and serve the Army as ambassadors for on- and off-post events,” White Sands said in its news release.
The show will be in the park’s natural amphitheater.
The program is free, but park entrance fees will apply.
To get to the amphitheater, drive approximately 6 miles beyond the fee station to an intersection just after the Backcountry Camping Trail parking lot. Take a right at that intersection and then the second left. Drive approximately 1 mile further and the amphitheater will be on the right side.
The parking lot will open at 7:15 pm. Seating is not provided at the amphitheater. You are encouraged to set up on the surrounding dunes and bring camp chairs, blankets, and coolers with food and drinks.
Visitors need to pack out all their trash, the park said.
This is the first of four Full Moon Night events White Sands is hosting this year which will feature the “cultural legacy of Southern New Mexico and the rich natural resources of White Sands,” the park said.
“These events are a great opportunity to have a unique experience with the whole family under the light of the full moon,” White Sands said.
