EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Technology company Wiwynn Corp. is making a $152 million investment that will bring more than 500 “high-paying jobs” to the City of Socorro, the City announced on Tuesday, June 3.
The Taiwanese company, a global leader in cloud infrastructure, will establish a new manufacturing and testing facility at the Socorro Logistics Center, 9220 Socorro Road.

The City of Socorro said the company will create 514 jobs and help make the City a “major player in the tech industry.”
The City said the company’s investment was made possible through the City’s Choose Socorro initiative, led by the City Development Office.
A targeted strategy of economic stimulus packages, proposals and presentations to the Socorro City Council, El Paso County and the Borderplex Alliance “helped attract and secure this international expansion,” the City said.
The new facility, to be located in the Socorro Logistics Center, will support “growing demand” for advanced cloud infrastructure and play a key role in the company’s worldwide operations, the City said.
“This isn’t just a win for Socorro. It’s a statement to the world,” Socorro Mayor Rudy Cruz Jr. said. “Wiwynn’s decision to plant roots here proves that our city is no longer a hidden gem. We are a rising star in global tech.
“With this $152 million investment and 514 high-skilled jobs, we’re not just building a facility; we’re building futures, forging innovation and putting Socorro on the map as the City with a Mission and a momentum that can’t be stopped,” Cruz said.
Joseph Hu, general manager for Wiwynn Corp., said: “The workforce, business environment, and civic leadership have made the Borderplex region a natural choice for Wiwynn’s expansion. We look forward to our expansion and strengthening our ties in the region.”
