EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Ysleta Port of Entry seized 27.1 pounds of cocaine on Monday, June 2, CBP said in a press release.
CBP says the narcotics were hidden in a pickup truck being driven by a 21-year-old man, a U.S. citizen, who was coming from Mexico and arrived at the Ysleta Port of Entry on Monday.
The pickup truck was selected for secondary inspection, and during a scan, anomalies were discovered, CBP said.
Brown packages were discovered in the truck, and the contents of the packages tested positive for cocaine, CBP said.
The seizure is in addition to the 20.1 pounds of cocaine seized on May 28 at the same port of entry, CBP said.
CBP officers arrested the man, and he was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents to face importation of controlled substances charges.
