Texas Monthly – H-E-B Sells a Slew of Scented Sunscreens. We Tried Them All.

photo illustration of sunscreen wearing pool tubesH-E-B has always been there when we needed it most, whether by offering butter and regular flour tortillas, helping Texans during natural (and unnatural) disasters, or (at long last) accepting Apple Pay at checkout. It’s no secret that the grocery chain has helped our stomachs, our communities, and our wallets. But now it’s also helping our fragile human skin. For the past few summers, H-E-B has stocked its shelves with a variety of sunscreens (around $10 per bottle) in various strengths and (oddly appetizing) scents. Walking down the store’s sun-care aisle feels like taking a jaunt through HomeGoods or a local boutique: “Live, Laugh, Love” decor abounds alongside sprays and lotions promising to brighten, hydrate, shimmer, and vivify.
