Posted on June 14, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 48-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street late Friday night, June 13 in Las Cruces, police there said.

Police said they are continuing to investigate what led up to the crash that killed a pedestrian, later identified as Juan A. Haro, 48.

Las Cruces Police said that at about 10:50 p.m., they, along with Las Cruces Fire, were sent to the intersection of Boutz Road and El Paseo Road about reports of crash involving a pedestrian.

When first responders arrived, they found Haro, suffering from multiple injuries, police said.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but Haro was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Traffic investigators learned Haro was crossing Boutz, north to south, when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling west on Boutz and approaching El Paseo Road.

The vehicle came to a stop nearby and police interviewed the 17-year-old driver. The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant and further investigation, police said.

At this time, no charges have been filed pending further investigation, police said.

Anyone who has information or video of this incident, and has not yet talked to police, is asked to contact traffic investigators at (575) 526-0795.
