Posted on June 20, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A fire burning on Mescalero Apache Tribal land is now at 802 acres and 0 percent containment, a spokesman for the tribe said on Friday afternoon, June 20.

The Seven Springs Fire started Tuesday in a remote area of the tribal land called Nogal Canyon. That first night, there was an evacuation order for residents in Nogal Canyon but that has been lifted, the spokesman said.

No structures have been damaged or threatened, he added. The fire is burning in a remote area, he said.

Multiple agencies across Arizona and New Mexico have responded to the fire.

The fire area is also getting some moisture Friday which could help firefighting efforts.
