EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested 14 people in its third warrant roundup, the agency announced Friday, June 20.
The roundup, which is part of a continuining ongoing effort to reduce outstanding criminal warrants across the County, was held on Wednesday, June 18, the Sheriff’s Office said.
It was the third warrant roundup conducted as part of the Joint Warrant Initiatitve.
Individuals who were arrested were facing charges ranging from multiple DWIs, assault on a pregnant person, unauthorized use of a vehicle, child sex crimes, evading arrest and other charges.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with the offices of Constable Frank Almada (Precinct 1), Constable Hector Bernal (Precinct 3), Constable Luis “Louie” Aguilar (Precinct 4), Constable Javier Garcia (Precinct 6), and Constable Angie Sommers (Precinct 7). Each of these offices played a key role in the success of the effort, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“Our team remains committed to holding individuals with outstanding warrants accountable,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “I’m thankful for the continued hard work of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office and appreciative of our constables for their support in this joint initiative.”
The first and second round-ups resulted in 21 and 17 arrests, respectively.
Ugarte has emphasized that these coordinated operations will continue as part of a broader strategy to strengthen public safety throughout El Paso County, the Sheriff’s Office said.
