LINCOLN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Potential heavy rainfall could cause flooding in burn scar areas in Lincoln County starting Monday and lasting until Sunday, according to the Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services.
Residents living near or downstream of the Salt, South Fork, and Blue 2 burn scars are asked to stay alert to changing weather conditions and official alerts, the county stated in a news release, adding that even if rainfall is not occurring in lower elevations, runoff from upper canyons and burn scars can cause dangerous flooding and debris flows.
The county said it will continue to post updates online and via media outlets.
