EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man accused of sexually abusing two girls for over a decade pleaded guilty moments before his trial was set to begin.
The El Paso District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday, June 23, in a news release.
The DA’s Office said that Valentin Juarez Juarez, 33, pleaded guilty to two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.
The victims were 6 years old each when Juarez began to abuse them sexually, physically, and psychologically. This persisted until one of them made an outcry to a family member in August 2022, when both girls were already teens, the DA’s Office said.
The DA’s Office said the abuse was then reported to the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office, which resulted in Juarez’s arrest in March of 2023. Juarez has remained behind bars since.
Each charge resulted in a 50-year prison sentence, which will be served concurrently. He is not eligible for parole and will have to serve the entirety of the sentence, the DA’s Office said.
“District Attorney James Montoya commends both the investigative work of former Deputy
Emmanuel Garcia of the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Ranger Brent Mata, as
well as the girls for bravely speaking up about the abuse,” read the news release.
“The horrific abuse that these victims suffered is unimaginable, and one of the worst cases of child sex abuse in Hudspeth County,” Montoya said. “Thankfully, these victims will not have to
recount what happened to them publicly to a group of strangers. This 50-year sentence will
ensure the perpetrator is nowhere near the victims or the public, potentially for the rest of his
natural life.”
Additionally, Assistant District Attorneys Lisa Clausen and Eric Willard represented the State of Texas in the prosecution of this case.
