EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Weather conditions are delaying trash and recycling collections, and the City of El Paso is asking for the public’s patience as they work on emptying trash bins on Wednesday, June 25, the City said in a press release.
“The safety of the public and our employees is our priority. Stormwater runoff is creating challenging conditions along trash and recycling collection routes, and in some neighborhoods washing away bins filled with trash down the street. Collections are taking longer than usual today, and for some homes, we may have to return tomorrow to empty the bins, but we will collect them,” said Environmental Services Department Director Nick Ybarra.
The City has provided some collection tips:
- Leave bin on the curb until emptied
- Bins should be placed at least three feet apart from each other and five feet apart from other objects
- Do not overflow bins so lids can close completely
