EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two men were arrested after breaking into a property, dismantling vehicles, and causing $3,500 worth of damage on Tuesday, June 24, in far East El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Clemente Arrieta, 53, and 28-year-old Luis Wilfredo Chairez were both charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and burglary of vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Arrieta and Chairez were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a $4,500 bond each, the Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to a criminal trespass in progress at a property along the 14000 block of Montana Avenue.
Deputies arrived on the scene within two minutes and saw two men entering and exiting the property while carrying multiple items, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The area was immediately secured, and both suspects were detained without incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had “breached” a cinderblock wall to unlawfully get onto the property, where they dismantled and removed various vehicle parts. An estimated $3,500 worth of damage was done to the property.
Arrieta and Chairez were identified as the suspects, and a search warrant was obtained to recover the stolen items and seize the vehicle used during the crime, the Sheriff’s Office said.
