The velvet sofas, canopy beds, and oil paintings at the Marlene are decades, if not centuries, old. Every item was chosen by influencer and innkeeper Lily Barfield; her husband, Thomas; and her mom, Tracie Aguillard. “We took six sourcing trips to France to fill this inn and hand selected every single piece,” Barfield says. “Point at anything and I can tell you the story behind it.”With a soft opening set for June 28, the Marlene is the latest boutique hotel to debut in the hip Montrose neighborhood.
