Paige Davidson uses a template to cut out a pattern for a handbag.Paige Davidson still has the notes friends passed her in class decades ago, all kept tidily in a binder. A native of Gainesville, about seventy miles north of Dallas, she comes from a family of collectors. Her grandparents hung on to restaurant matchbooks. Her father stockpiles oilcans from around the world. And her mother is fond of pie birds. So while sorting through her late grandmother’s fabric collection in 2003, Davidson, her sister, and their mom came up with a sentimental and practical use for the material: They made purses.When friends who saw their creations asked to buy their own, Davidson set up an online shop.
