EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An alleged member of a Mexican drug trafficking organization was extradited to El Paso following his arrest in Mexico last week, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas announced on Tuesday, July 1, in a news release.

According to court documents, from January 2016 through August 2019, Hector Adrian Rojero Ramos, aka Teto, 54, allegedly engaged in a conspiracy to import heroin and fentanyl from Mexico to destinations in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and elsewhere in the U.S.

Rojero Ramos is charged with one count of conspiracy to import a controlled substance, one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and two counts of aiding and abetting possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that if convicted, Rojero Ramos faces up to life in prison.

Additionally, U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas made the announcement.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI are investigating the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jose Luis Acosta is prosecuting the case.
