EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 32-year-old man, who was shot by police last month, was arrested and charged after confronting officers with two knives in El Paso’s Lower Valley, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).
Victor Enrique Mariscal, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury/family violence, according to EPPD.
As KTSM previously reported, shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, officers responded to reports of a family violence incident in progress along the 9500 block of North Loop.
EPPD said that when officers entered a residence, they encountered Mariscal, who was armed with two knives.
During the confrontation, officers “deployed a taser and subsequently discharged their firearms,” EPPD said.
Mariscal was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released, EPPD said.
EPPD said Mariscal was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
