EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Professional multi-barbecue champion and U.S. Army veteran Chris Webb has launched an “exclusive” barbecue supply store in South-Central El Paso, which he said will elevate backyard cooks in El Paso.
“As what we have here at Bushmaster, I felt that the community of El Paso just was missing something from a high-end retail barbecue experience,” said Chris Webb, owner and pitmaster of Bushmaster BBQ Supply Co.
Bushmaster BBQ Supply Co. is located at 3501 Durazno Ave.
Webb said his retail store aims to serve all barbecue enthusiasts from backyard pitmasters to world champions. He said they offer the most extensive selection of outdoor cooking supplies that people won’t be able to find anywhere else in El Paso.
“Here you’ll find the best seasonings, sauces, charcoal pellets, high-end meats, brines, injections, anything that you need to cook in your backyard. We’re here to help serve you,” Webb said.
Webb is a renowned championship pitmaster who has competed professionally since 2018.
Webb has led the Bushmaster BBQ brand to over 100 professional contests, winning hundreds of awards and 25 championships. Most notably, he is a two-time American Royal World Series of BBQ Reserve grand champion, which Webb said is the pinnacle for this activity.
But Webb said professional barbecuing is a lifestyle and tries to continue evolving his craft.
“Barbecuing is a lifelong journey. Once I think I have it figured out, I’ll talk to another friend who’s operating at a high level, and we’ll exchange secrets or stories, successes and failures. But I always try to stay up to date in the knowledge, always doing R&D, being a student of the craft and working at a high level,” Webb said.
But Webb said all his acquired knowledge and experience mean nothing if he is not sharing it with others. That is why at Bushmaster BBQ Webb also hosts barbecuing classes ranging from the basics of barbecuing to advanced outdoor cooking techniques.
Webb said his classes offer a culinary journey experience that are tailored to people’s skill level and interests. The classes also include numerous small sample bites and conclude with a dinner.
“To see guys come in and take the class, go home, execute the exact recipe that they just learned in class the week prior, and come back and tell me, ‘Hey, man, I did exactly what you said. That was awesome. My family was blown away and I was the king of the cul de sac.’ That to me means more than all the accolades on the wall,” Webb said.
