SOCORRO, Texas (KTSM) — A 36-year-old woman was recently arrested after she was found with methamphetamine within her vehicle after a traffic stop, according to the Socorro Police Department in a news release.
Police said Haydee Caroline Perez, 36, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, July 15, and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance with a $25,000 bond.
Shortly before 4 p.m. on July 15, officers were patrolling the area of 600 Horizon Blvd. when they observed a vehicle fail to signal a right turn, police said.
Police said a traffic stop was initiated, and a canine sniff was conducted, resulting in a positive alert to the presence of narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 48.9 grams of methamphetamine, police said.
Perez was then taken into custody.
“The Socorro Police Department remains committed to proactive policing and the use of specialized resources, such as K-9 officers, to combat drug trafficking and protect the community,” read the news release.
