KTSM News – CRRUA: Water continues to meet arsenic regulations

Posted on July 19, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The most recent quarterly testing show that all four of the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority’s arsenic treatment plants remain compliant with New Mexico state regulations, the utility said.

Test results from samples the New Mexico Environment Department took on July 1 show that water treated at all four facilities are below federal maximum contaminant levels (MCL) of 10 parts per billion (ppb).

CRRUA provides water and wastewater service to Santa Teresa and Sunland Park.

“This is the third straight NMED quarterly compliance test period in which all four CRRUA ATFs passed based on the RAA (running annual average),” CRRUA Executive Director Juan Crosby said.

The RAA is determined by adding the previous four quarterly NMED test results for each ATF and dividing each total by four, the utility said.

The test results in the chart shown below shows the overall trend starting from January 2024 when Crosby took over as interim executive director and was later named to the position permanently.

“CRRUA continues to remain compliant with arsenic standards under the Safe Drinking Water Act,” Crosby said.

CRRUA provides all arsenic test results on the home page of its website at crrua.org and on Facebook at facebook.com/crruainfo.
