EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sherifff’s Office and the El Paso District Attorney’s Office are asking anyone who has active criminal warrants to turn themselves in to law enforcement before the end of July, the DA’s Office said in a news release.
The annual Warrant Roundup will be held from Monday, July 28 to Aug. 1, both agencies said.
During the annual Warrant Roundup, EPCSO deputies execute searches to find those who have not complied with court orders in their criminal cases, the DA’s Office said.
Before the roundup takes place, the Sheriff’s Office publishes a list of wanted individuals on the El Paso County website and distributes the list to local media outlets. You can click here for more information.
Last year, 40 arrests were made during the Warrant Roundup. In 2023, 55 people with outstanding warrants were arrested.
Before the Warrant Roundup, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said it is offering an amnesty period from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25.
According to EPCSO, the period will be in effect from Monday, July 21, to Friday, July 25.
If an individual’s name is on the list and currently has an active criminal warrant with the County courts, this is “your opportunity to resolve it (warrant) without fear or immediate arrest,” the Sheriff’s Office said of its amnesty period that is being offered before the Warrant Roundup.
In addition, EPCSO says those who take advantage of the amnesty period can avoid being taken into custody by scheduling a “Fast Track Booking” appointment.
DA James Montoya said his office “doesn’t forget” pepole who have warrants.
“If you have been charged with a crime, we encourage those with warrants to turn themselves in voluntarily. But if not, law enforcement will find you,” Montoya said.
Anyone who wants to turn themselves in may do so beginning at 6 a.m. at the Downtown El Paso County Jail at 601 E. Overland Ave. .
