KTSM News – Constable offices to crack down on speeding during joint operation

Posted on July 22, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County Constable offices will team up with the Texas Department of Transportation and other law-enforcement agencies in El Paso County to increase traffic enforcement through early August.

Speeding will be the particular focus of this effort, according to a news release sent out by the Constable’s Office for Precinct 4. Other Constable offices throughout the County, however, will be participating.

Constable offices for Precinct 3, 4, 6 and 7 have confirmed their participation; all precincts have been invited to participate.

The enforcement period began on Friday, July 18 and will last through Aug. 3

“Speeding reduces your reaction time and increases how much distance you’ll need to stop to avoid a crash. Speeding can be expensive. Slow down or you could face hefty fines and court costs, and your insurance rates could go up as well,” the news release said.

Also, fines double if you speed in a school zone or a construction zone when workers are present, the news release said.

“The goal is to prevent or decrease the number of fatal and serious injury collisions where speed is a contributing factor,” the news release said.
