EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Heavy rain flooded roadways and kicked up muddy conditions Tuesday evening, July 22 along roads in Southern New Mexico from Vado to Las Cruces.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reporting flooded roadways and difficult driving conditions in the area around Las Cruces and Mesquite.
Flooding and standing water on the roadway has been reported on Interstate 25 in Las Cruces at mile marker 1 (the University exit).

Standing water is also impacting traffic on I-10 east and west in Mesquite.
Frontage Road 1037 (Stern Road) is closed from Cholla Road to NM 225 in Mesquite, NMDOT reported.
Our crews on the scene are also reporting standing water on I-10 near Vado and muddy roads.
Our new photographer Nigel Wickens captured images of a car stuck in mud near an RV park in Vado.



Motorists are urged to use extreme caution.
NMDOT also sent KTSM some photos of flooding and mud in the Las Cruces area.
