EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 51-year-old man has been arrested and is facing charges of theft and deceptive business practice with a prior conviction, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said on Saturday, July 26
Hugo Vasquez, 51, was arrested Friday after an investigatoin into alleged fraudulent business practices, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation began when a victim reported hiring H&V Remodeling for a home renovation project.

The victim told deputies that several of her family members had also contracted the same company for remodeling work.
Despite receiving multiple payments, the company failed to complete the jobs and eventually cut off communication, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives identified Vasquez as the person behind the business.
The Sheriff’s office said Vasquez made repeated false promises to begin the work but never followed through.
After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators obtained two arrest warrants.
On Friday, Vasquez was taken into custody by members of the Criminal Investigation Division and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
He is charged with theft of property (under $2,500) and deceptive business practice with a prior conviction, the Sheriff’s Office said. His total bond was set at $14,000.
“No matter the crime, if you violate the law in El Paso County, you will go to jail,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the community and pursuing justice for all victims.”
