EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Vitalant wants El Pasoans to mark the anniversary of the Aug. 3, 2019 Walmart massacre by donating blood.
To honor the victims and the heroes who stepped forward that day, Vitalant will host a “Remember. Honor. Give.” community blood drive on Saturday and Sundy, Aug. 2–3 at Cielo Vista Mall.

Vitalant, El Paso’s community blood provider for over 70 years, said it played a critical role during the 2019 tragedy and continues to serve local hospitals and patients daily.
“Their commitment remains strong — especially during summer’s trauma season, when the demand for blood rises due to increased outdoor and travel-related accidents,” the organization said.
The blood drive will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on both Aug. 2-3 at Cielo Vista Mall.
Organizers say that this blood drive is more than just a chance to donate blood. It is a tribute to all those who stepped up on Aug. 3, 2019 to deal with the aftermath of the shooting that day.
“Join us in helping ensure a healthy, ready supply of blood for those in need, while remembering a moment that brought El Paso together,” Vitalant said.
Each donor will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
