EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 45-year-old El Paso man has died after a motorcycle crash last week in far East El Paso, and El Paso police are saying that he failed to negotiate a curb in a roundabout near the area.
Police say Eric Berry, 45, was traveling west on the 12200 block of Pebble Hills late Thursday night, July 24, when he approached a roundabout and was unable to control his speed.
Berry lost control of his motorcycle and fell off the bike as it collided with a rock landscape.
Berry was transported to a local hospital after the crash, and investigators were notified this week that Berry had died due to the injuries he sustained in the crash, police said.
As KTSM 9 News had previously reported, the Special Traffic Investigations (STI) Unit was called out that Thursday at Pebble Hills and Joe Battle near the roundabout regarding a motorcycle crash.
Police say the main contributing factor in this crash was that Berry failed to negotiate the curb in the roundabout. Berry was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
This is the 35th traffic fatality compared to 37 this same time last year.
STI continues to investigate this crash.
