KTSM News – County cooling centers stay open through Aug. 15

Posted on August 4, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County wants to remind the public that County-operated cooling centers remain open to help residents stay safe during extreme heat.

As high temperatures persist across the region, the County continues to provide relief through its network of community centers designated as cooling centers.

These facilities are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday and are currently scheduled to stay open through Aug. 15.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these centers to stay cool and prevent heat-related illness.

Residents can cool off at the following locations:

1. Agua Dulce Community Center – 15371 Kentwood Ave, Horizon City

2. Fabens Community Center – 201 NW Camp St.

3. Canutillo Community Center – 7351 Bosque Rd.

The City of El Paso also has cooling center locations that are open and available for residents. Locations and hours of operation for these particular cooling centers can be found by clicking here.

Pet Safety Reminder:

Pet owners are also encouraged to take precautions by ensuring pets have access to fresh water and shaded areas, as well as to avoid walking their pets during peak heat hours to prevent overheating and paw pad injuries.

Need Assistance?

For after-hours or overnight cooling assistance, dial 3-1-1 to be connected with the City’s shelter network partners. In the event of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
