Such themes often inspire heartfelt messages from readers, though we sometimes find it hard to predict which stories will elicit responses. But I’m not at all surprised by the powerful wave of expression set off by senior editor Aaron Parsley’s remarkable article “ ‘The River House Broke. We Rushed in the River.,’ ” a heartrending narrative that vividly recounted how his family’s Guadalupe River home was wrenched from its foundation during the July 4 floods with him and six of his family members inside.
