EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 68-year-old registered sex offender was arrested for kidnapping and sexually abusing a woman last month in the Horizon area, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO).

EPCSO said that Lorenzo Davila, a registered sex offender with the Sheriff’s Office, 68, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, and charged with aggravated kidnapping with sexual abuse with a bond initially set at $100,000.
He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, where his bond was increased to $220,000.
At 4:30 p.m. on July 23, deputies were dispatched to Cousins Drive about a report of unlawful restraint and assault.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a woman who reported that she had been abducted by a man, later identified as Davila, according to EPCSO.
EPCSO said that the victim stated Davila had forcefully taken her to his residence in an unknown desert location in the Horizon area without her consent. While there, she was assaulted after refusing his sexual advances. The victim was able to escape and flagged down a passerby, who brought her home safely.
Due to limited information at the time, the case was forwarded to Criminal Investigations Division detectives at the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station.
Through a thorough investigation, detectives identified Davila, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on charges of aggravated kidnapping with sexual abuse, EPCSO said.
EPCSO said deputies launched an extensive search and successfully located Davila near a relative’s residence in the 13000 block of Grand River.
