Posted on August 7, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A celebration of life will be held next Friday in remembrance of the two young siblings who died in the Ruidoso floods last month.

‘Joyful souls’: Family describes siblings killed in Ruidoso floods

The celebration of life for 7-year-old Sebastian Rowan Trotter and 4-year-old Charlotte Emery Trotter will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, at the First Baptist Church of El Paso, located at 805 Montana Ave.

In place of flowers, the family asks guests to bring stuffed animals and/or pet supplies to donate to the El Paso Children’s Hospital, El Paso Animal Services, and the Ruidoso Humane Society.

As KTSM 9 News has previously reported, on Tuesday, July 8, Sebastian and Charlotte were killed during the flooding in Ruidoso.

The parents, Stephanie and Sebastian Trotter, survived the floods but sustained serious injuries. They are a Fort Bliss family, according to the Army post.

According to a GoFundMe set up by the family, Sebastian was “brave” in trying to save his little sister in the flood.

Sebastian was a student at Sgt. Jose Carrasco Elementary School, where he “excelled academically” and was an A honor roll student, according to an obituary for the siblings.

“Sebastian was an avid sports lover, but had a passion for soccer and looked forward to becoming a professional soccer player,” the obituary read.

Additionally, Sebastian was a member of the Dragones FC and a member of the Eastside Regional Recreation Center, where he played basketball, soccer, and baseball, according to the obituary.

Charlotte had completed pre-kindergarten at Sgt. Roberto Ituarte Elementary School, and was looking forward to attending the same school as her brother.

According to the obituary, she also played soccer for the Eastside Recreational Center and was the newest member of the Dragones FC.

“She was a girly girl that took pride in the outfits she wore, enjoyed her play makeup, and had a passion for making others laugh,” read the obituary.
