EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 41-year-old man was arrested this week after stealing a Circle K cashier’s wallet and using the stolen credit cards throughout El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) in a news release.

Danny Joseph Navarro, 41, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 7, on two criminal warrants of theft of property and credit card abuse with a $21,000 bond. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, according to EPCSO.
On Wednesday, Aug. 6, deputies responded to a theft at the Circle K in the 12200 block of Eastlake.
The cashier reported that an unknown man reached behind the counter and stole the cashier’s wallet, which contained cash, multiple debit and credit cards, and personal identification, before fleeing in a gray Honda Accord, according to EPCSO.
An investigation was immediately initiated, collecting surveillance footage from surrounding businesses and utilizing license plate reader databases. EPCSO said these efforts led to the identification of the vehicle involved.
Later that day, the victim began receiving alerts from his financial institutions about multiple attempted and completed transactions using the stolen cards.
The deputy followed up at several transaction locations within El Paso, obtaining video and still images showing the same individual, later identified as Navarro, who had taken the wallet using the victim’s cards, according to EPCSO.
A day later, the investigating deputy, assisted by additional units, conducted a surveillance operation that led to Navarro’s arrest, according to EPCSO.
“The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office remains dedicated to protecting our community and seeking justice for all victims. We are committed to holding offenders accountable and will continue to investigate, identify, and arrest those who choose to commit crimes in El Paso County,” read the news release.
