EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Eighty-six citations were issued on Thursday, Aug. 7, during a short enforcement operation along North Main Street, the Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) said in a news release.
Of the 86 traffic citations, 50 were issued to motorists who were driving in excess of the posted limit, according to LCPD.
LCPD said the 35-mph speed limit has been posted along North Main Street since the New Mexico Department of Transportation widened the roadway to six lanes between Solano Drive and Triviz/Elks drives.
Other citations issued included the following, according to LCPD:
- 18 for driving with no proof of vehicle registration
- 12 for failure to provide proof of insurance
- 2 for no driver’s license
- 4 for miscellaneous traffic infractions
LCPD encourage motorists to abide by the posted 35 mph speed limit on that stretch of road. The speed limit is 35 mph in both directions.
In addition, the traffic enforcement operation began at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday and lasted about 75 minutes.
