EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso native, former UTEP running back, and Parkland High School graduate Deion Hankins scored a touchdown in the Chicago Bears’ preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins at Soldier Field on Sunday.
In the last 30 seconds of the third quarter, quarterback Case Keenum connected with Hankins on a 4-yard touchdown pass to give the Bears a 17-14 lead over the Dolphins.
It was Hankins first touchdown of his professional football career.
Hankins finished the day with 23 rushing yards on seven carries and a touchdown catch. The game ended in a 24-24 tie.
This was Hankins’ NFL preseason debut.
He attended Parkland High School and dominated the competition. He then spent five seasons at UTEP before he finished his college career at Texas State.
Hankins is now with the Bears as an undrafted free agent, looking to prove he belongs on the team’s 53-man roster for this upcoming season.
