EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Got something cool I want to show you.
This time around, I got one of Civivi’s new releases – the Guile.
This is a slick EDC knife with a super pointy, slicey Wharncliffe blade.

The knife is also designed by Canadian actor Shawn Ashmore. Normally, I would think that is nothing but a big gimmick.
This is actually a fully functional EDC knife with a good bit of craftsmanship to it.
Ashmore said on the Civivi website that he has started his own EDC brand called Peace Neighbor, focusing on stylish and functional pocket tools.
Ashmore also said on the Civivi website, that after playing an FBI agent on a TV series, he got to check out new gear every episode and that ignited his passion for all things EDC.
Sounds good to me.
Well, he definitely hit the nail on the head with the Guile. Stylish and functional are two words that certainly come to mind with this offering from Civivi.

Let’s start off with some numbers. It has a 3.25-inch 14C28N Wharncliffe blade. The knife is 7.47 inches long when open and 4.22 inches when closed. It weighs in at 2.87 ounces, making it seem like a virtual feather in your pocket.
It is not a little knife, but it isn’t huge either.
It can be deployed with a front flipper and a thumb hole on the blade.
I am normally not a big front flipper guy, but this one seems very intuitive and easy to use. The thumb hole opening also works great and really fires that blade out.
The version of the Guile I have been checking out comes with G10 ivory-colored (kind of an off-white or cream) handles. The knife is offered in several other flavors and we will get to that later.
The G10 handle does have some texturing to make it feel “grippy” in your hand.

The handle also has a cutout area near the blade pivot that acts as a finger guard and a handy place to rest your index finger when using this knife.
All four of my fingers easily wrap around the handle, especially when I choke up and use the gimping on the spine of the blade as a place to put my thumb.
It just feels natural in hand and gives you a great controlled feel when opening up boxes or doing other light EDC work.
The Guile also comes with a deep carry pocket clip that is reversible.
It uses a liner lock as its locking mechanism, giving this knife a bit of a traditional feel.
Overall, this just feels like a super comfortable, lightweight EDC knife that seems stylish enough to carry at the office or out on a dinner date. As some of my Southern friends might say, it could be a church-carry type of knife.
I also wouldn’t hesitate to break it out for cutting tasks around the house, yard and garage.
The Guile with ivory G10 handles retails for $70 on the Civivi website.
It comes in several other options – fluorescent green G10 ($70); black G10 with blacked-out blade ($70); and black micarta handles with Damascus blade ($99.70).

Civivi is the mid-range brand for the WE Knife family. Sencut is the budget line and WE is the higher end. Civivi is right in the middle.

I have checked out several other Civivis this summer and liked them all. This is a brand that makes well designed and constructed knives that look great and work great – at least from what I have seen.
Here is a review I did on the Civivi Crabby and on the Civivi Baby Banter 2.
Here are some YouTube channels on pocket knives and EDC gear that I watch, enjoy and respect.
