EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 17-year-old was arrested earlier this month for possession of drugs after a woman called 911 due to concerns for her own well-being and her child in Horizon City, according to police.
Jose Manuel Nilo, 17, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and endangering a child under a $3,000 bond. He was taken to the El Paso County Detention Facility.
On Aug. 4, officers responded to a welfare check involving a woman who had called 911 due to concerns for her own well-being and her child at the 14000 block of Calhoun Drive, according to the Horizon City Police Department.
While checking on the child’s safety, officers observed a “controlled substance” in plain view near the child. Nilo admitted the controlled substance belonged to him and surrendered the item to officers.
This case was reported to Child Protective Services.
