EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 29-year-old man was arrested after a resisting deputies when they attempted to arrest him for an active warrant for assaulting a pregnant person, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Friday, Aug. 29, deputies in the Northwest Patrol Station responded to a disturbance call in the 7100 block of Kayla Drive in Canutillo.
Uppon arrival, deputies made contact with 29-year-old Angel Geovanny Martinez.
During the investigation, deputies learned Martinez had an active warrant for assault on a
pregnant person. When deputies attempted to place him under arrest, Martinez physically
resisted and ignored “repeated loud verbal commands” from deputies, the Sheriff’s Office.
After a brief struggle, deputies were able to gain control of Martinez and take him into
custody, the Sheriff’s Office said.
He was transported to the El Paso County Jail, where he was booked on charges of
assault on a pregnant person and resisting arrest, search, or transport. His bonds totaled $27,500.
