El Paso Taxpayer Revolt – KVIA INTERVIEW WITH MAYOR AIRED ON ABC-7 XTRA, ANOTHER TAX INCREASE PLANNED FOR FY 2027

Posted on September 2, 2025

[[{“value”:”

On August 22, Andrew Polk of KVIA and Reyes Mata III of El Paso Inc conducted the first-ever journalistic interview Mayor Renard Johnson, who has a long history of evading media interviews and avoiding uncomfortable questions.

Unlike Bob Moore, who utterly botched his interview with the Mayor a week earlier and failed to ask him a single substantive question, Polk and Reyes pressed the Mayor hard on property tax, streets, and the Debt Plaza.

Thankfully, KVIA ran the entire interview on ABC-7 XTRA Sunday night and posted the video online.

The interview highlights the Mayor’s broken promises on the property tax and streets. It also reveals his plan to make the public pay for a substantial portion of the Debt Plaza and to increase our property tax for a second year in a row, in FY 2027.

We wish to thank Mark Ross and Brenda De Anda-Swann for sharing the interview with their wider wider audience.
