EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, along with regional law-enforcement partners, made more than 160 traffic stops resulting in 35 arrests during a Labor Day weekend enforcement operation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Of the arrests, 26 were for driving while intoxicated.
“We are seeing numbers slowly decrease during these operations, which shows the
message is getting out to the community,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “But even one
impaired driver is one too many. We need everyone’s continued cooperation to ensure
families across El Paso County get home safely.”
The operation was done in partnership with the El Paso Police Department, Clint
Police Department, Horizon Police Department, Anthony Police Department, Socorro
Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the El Paso County Constables’
Offices.
