We are less than two weeks away from the El Paso County Commissioners meeting on Sept. 15 to hold a budget hearing, before adopting its budget for the fiscal year that runs from October 2025 through September 2026.
Last month, commissioners voted 4-to-1 to raise the property tax rate, a move expected to cost the average homeowner about $137 more a year.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Iliana Holguin was the lone “no” vote, stating the county could have tapped into reserves or cut non-mandated programs instead of raising rates.
