EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — UTEP announced this week that a new barbecue sauce is now on the shelves and is available for purchase at the bookstore.
UTEP Athletics announced the launch of Miner Magic Gourmet BBQ Sauce on Monday, Sept. 1, featuring a hint of Hatch green chile and zesty jalapenos.
A press conference was held Wednesday morning at the bookstore by UTEP Athletics, who introduced the sauce.
“I’ve tried it. I’m not a particularly spicy hot person. It’s mild. It’s tasty. It’s zesty. It’s perfect. So if somebody like me who doesn’t like really hot food can do this, trust me this is your kind of barbecue sauce.”

Center said The Jank, a New Jersey brand of barbecue sauce, collaborated with the University to produce the sauce.
Center also said they would like to have as many brand consumables as possible to support the University and El Paso.
Aside from being available at the bookstore, the sauce is also available for purchase online.
“No corn syrup, gluten-free, no MSG across the board, and when you talk about quality, legacy, community, UTEP was a no-brainer.”
