KTSM News – Fatal crash brings down power lines in Doña Ana County

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A crash that claimed the life of one person and injured another brought power lines down on early Friday morning, Sept. 5, in Doña Ana County.

At 2:30 a.m. on Friday, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene of a deadly single-vehicle at the 9700 block of Corona Road near Organ, New Mexico.

Upon arrival, first responders located two people involved in the crash. One person was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. The other person remained at the scene, where life-saving measures were performed. However, the person was pronounced deceased, according to the Doña Ana County.

Additionally, power lines were brought down in the area due to the crash. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area while emergency crews and utility workers respond.

El Paso Electric has been notified and is en route to assess and repair the damage, the Doña Ana County added.

The crash is under investigation.
