EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Clint Independent School District had 12 schools designated as Purple Star Campuses by the Texas Education Agency for 2025-27 school years, the district announced.
This designation recognizes schools that have “demonstrated a significant commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families,” Clint ISD said.
Clint ISD now has a total of 13 campuses with this designation.
To earn this designation, schools must meet specific criteria, which includes:
● Designating a staff member as a campus-based military liaison to support military
students and families.
● Maintaining a dedicated, easily accessible webpage with resources for military families.
● Implementing a campus transition program for military-connected students.
● Offering at least one military-related initiative, such as observing the Month of the
Military Child in April.
“We are incredibly proud to have 12 of our campuses recognized with the Purple Star
Designation,” Superintendent Juan I. Martinez said. “This is a testament to our
district’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that our military-connected students and their
families feel supported, welcomed, and empowered. We understand the unique challenges
they face, and this designation shows we are dedicated to providing the resources and
assistance they need to thrive.”
The Clint ISD campuses that received TEA Purple Star Designation for the 2025-2027 school
years are:
High Schools
● Clint Early College Academy
● Clint High School
● Mountain View High School
Middle Schools
● Clint Junior High School
● East Montana Middle School
● Horizon Middle School
● Ricardo Estrada Middle School
Elementary Schools
● Carroll T. Welch Elementary
● Frank Macias Elementary
● Montana Vista Elementary
● Red Sands Elementary
● W.D. Surratt Elementary
This recognition is valid for two years, after which the campuses can reapply.
Desert Hills Elementary already received the designation for the 2024-2026 school year and will be applying again next spring, Clint ISD said.
Ysleta ISD
Ysleta Independent School District said its Eastwood Heights Elementary School has earned a Purple Star Campus designation.
Ysleta now has six total schools with the Purple Star designation. The others are:
- Alicia Chacon International School
- Eastwood Knolls International
School - Edgemere International School
- R.E.L. Washington International
School - Young Women’s Leadership
Academy
“Military life brings frequent moves, new schools, and deployments — changes that can
disrupt a child’s routine. To ease those transitions, Ysleta ISD created the HERO Military
Program, a one-stop support system that streamlines enrollment and helps families quickly plug
into their new school and community,” the district said.
