EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials will speak up about the project that would make improvements and upgrades to Interstate 10 through Downtown El Paso.
As KTSM previously reported, TxDOT had asked for the community’s feedback on the proposed Downtown 10 project, which includes improvements along I-10 from Executive Center Boulevard to State Loop 478 or Copia Street.
The project, which is about six miles long and would widen I-10 from three to five lanes to four to six lanes headed east and west, aims to improve mobility and long-term congestion, reduce potential conflict points, improve incident management, and bring the highway up to current design standards, according to TxDOT.
There will be a virtual and in-person meeting with an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the El Paso Convention Center (Juarez Room), located at One Civic Center Plaza.
The virtual hearing will be posted online that same day until October 14.
The virtual meeting can be accessed by clicking here and using the keyword search “Downtown 10.”
KTSM will have a live interview at 6:30 p.m. on Monday with TxDOT’s spokeswoman, Lauren Macias-Cervantes, to learn why this project is important and what commuters can expect from it.
You can watch live by tuning in to KTSM channel 9, live on Facebook, or this web story.
