KTSM News – El Paso students gather water, hygiene kits for shelters

Posted on September 9, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A group of local students has launched an initiative to support area shelters.

Leonardo Gomez, the Area 2 vice president of Texas Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and student leader at Del Valle High School, along with his group, has launched a community service initiative called Operation WaterSpring.

The initiative focuses on collecting water bottles and hygiene kits for adults and children in local shelters.

“Through this project, we hope to bring relief and dignity to families in need while inspiring other young leaders to take action in their communities,” Gomez said in a news release.

As part of the group’s efforts, they are also fundraising to donate an air conditioning unit to a shelter.

If you would like to donate, refer to the flyer below. You can also contact Gome at (432) 284-0598 or email area2vp@fblatx.org for more information.
