Posted on September 10, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 64-year-old woman is dead after a vehicle evading a trooper disregarded a stop sign and collided with hers on Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, in Van Horn in Culberson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in a news release.

Preliminary information revealed that shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 frontage road while evading a DPS trooper at a high rate of speed.

A second vehicle, driven by 64-year-old Martha Zabrosky from Alpine, Texas, was traveling northbound on US-90, approaching the intersection.

The 19-year-old man disregarded a stop sign and collided with the right side of Zabrosky’s vehicle, according to DPS.

Following the impact, Zabrosky’s vehicle struck a curb and came to rest at a gas station with damage to the right side. The other vehicle struck a curb and came to rest on the sidewalk with front-end damage.

Zabrosky was unresponsive at the scene, and she was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 19-year-old man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to UMC El Paso, DPS added.

The crash is under investigation.
