EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — You can learn about the Chihuahuan desert during an annual family-friendly event hosted by the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
The 21st annual Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta will be held starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the El Paso zoo, 4001 E. Paisano.
Event is in partnership with the Chihuahuan Desert Education Coalition.

The family-friendly event will bring together professionals from all aspects of conservation from across the region to discuss innovative efforts and share information on restoring and preserving the desert, the City of El Paso said.
Guests have an opportunity to visit more than 20 organizations with informational displays, zoo exhibits, observe animal encounter presentations, and enjoy entertainment at the Wildlife Amphitheater.
“Preserving our diverse habitats and the wildlife that lives within them ensures our desert and local treasures can be enjoyed by all,” El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens Education Programs Manager Rick LoBello said. “I encourage residents to join this unique celebration and appreciate their connection with the desert landscape and recognize its rich natural beauty and heritage.”
The event is in conjunction with International Chihuahuan Desert Celebration Day, which the City is officially recognizing.
