EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Body camera footage released by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) captured two people being arrested after they fled from a traffic stop, resulting in a pursuit on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 18, in Canutillo.
Shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday, deputies conducted a traffic stop at the 7600 block of De Alva Drive.
During the stop, Jaren Adrian Dickerson, 26, provided false identifying information to deputies before fleeing on foot. A brief pursuit followed, but deputies temporarily lost sight of Dickerson, according to EPCSO.
The passenger, 28-year-old Jaclyn Nicole Chavez, then moved into the driver’s seat and fled the scene in the vehicle. Chavez was arrested shortly after.
Deputies, with assistance from the El Paso County Constable’s Office from Precincts 1, 2, and 7, established a perimeter in the area where Dickerson was last seen, and approximately one hour later, he was located. He attempted to flee but was tased and taken into custody without further incident, according to EPCSO.

“The Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring that those who try to flee from justice are held accountable,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “Anyone who runs from our deputies will be caught and taken to jail.”
Dickerson was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on an active warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with no bond.
He was also booked for evading arrest or detention with a $1,000 bond and for failing to identify – fugitive from justice with intent to give false information with a $1,000 bond.
Chavez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle with a $5,000 bond.
